Faith Elinor Dowden, 99, of West Liberty, was called to her Heavenly Home in the early morning hours of Saturday, April 4, 2026, where she was reunited with Leroy, her husband of 79 years.
Elinor is survived by two daughters, Sharon Hanger (Tom Dodds) and Carol (Weldon) Jordan, and former son-in-law Jeff Lange. Also surviving are grandchildren Jason (Bev Glasgow) Miller, Nikki (Mike) Moscinski, Holly Maier, Kirk Knott, Caryn Dowden, Thomas (Erica) Jordan, Dustin Lange, Ryan (April) Lange, and Angela Savage; great-grandchildren Corey (Carmen) Henderson, C.J. Miller, Melanie (Alexander Theobald) Miller, Miranda (Ben) Sullivan, Samantha Moscinski, Zach (Kelly) Maier, Clair Maier, Gabi (Travis) Davidson, Tyler and Trent Knott, Richard Dowden, Ellie, Riley and Lainey Jordan, Norah, Jace, Oliver and Burke Lange, Ava Lange, Jalyn Lange; and great-great-grandchildren Camden, Aiden, Christian, Sophia, Jaxxon, Raina, Bella, Rosaleigh, and Evie; sister Nancy Boortz, many nieces and nephews, and special friend, Teresa Lehman.
Elinor was preceded in death by her parents Charles “Pop” and Gladys (Inskeep) Johnson, her siblings Frank Johnson, Max Johnson, Margaret Ansley, Wilma Pavalok, Mary Ann Anoles, Juanita Staggers, and David Johnson; son-in-law Chuck Hanger, daughter Bertie Lange, and son Richard Dowden, grandsons Brian Miller and Jasen Lange; and great-great-grandsons Remington and Wesson Theobald.
Elinor had a few jobs over the years: Hopewell Dairy, (Bulldog) Siemens, Gillespie Oil, and Culligan. She and Leroy volunteered at Mary Rutan Hospital for over 25 years, receiving accolades from the Governor of Ohio. They continued their volunteer work at Green Hills, where they resided for many years.
Elinor and Leroy were very active at Hopewell Methodist Church, where they met during youth fellowship and were later married, and at Vineyard Christian Fellowship, singing in the choir and going on mission trips, just to name a few.
Pastor Eric Cook will begin a celebration of life service at 4 pm, Sunday, April 19, at Vineyard Christian Fellowship, 624 Twp. Rd. 55, Bellefontaine, OH 43311. A meal to follow.
