1951-2026
Glen J. Parmer, 75, of Rushsylvania, passed away Monday, September 28, 2026. He was born on July 10, 1951, to the late Robert “Parm” and Lois (Dunson) Parmer. He is survived by his children, Sherry Smith of Lima, Cathy Harless of Bellefontaine, Kristi (Andy) Shaw of West Mansfield, Steve “Paul” (Sarah) Smith of Kenton, David (Kathleen) Smith of Huntsville, and Sean (Holly) Parmer of Bellefontaine; 18 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death was his wife, Beverly “Bev” (Smith) Parmer; his brothers, Richard “Dick” Parmer of West Mansfield and Robert “Bob” Parmer of Kermit, TX; and his grandson, Shaun.
Glen had a long career as a Journeyman in maintenance at HK Porters and Honda Transmission (Bellemar Parts), before finally retiring from Dannon Yogurt in Minster, Ohio, in 2022. He was also a maintenance man for the family, volunteering to help whenever he was needed. He could always fix anything that we asked him to.
Glen enjoyed playing golf and softball, riding motorcycles, and cooking up new recipes. He was proud to have practiced Judo in his younger days. He cheered for the Bengals, Bearcats, and Buckeyes. We could always count on him calling to talk trash during football games.
Most of all, Glen was a loving father and grandfather who cherished his family and will be deeply missed by many.
A gathering of friends and family will take place at Jennings Farley & Sheeley Funeral Home and Crematory, Friday, October 2, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at 5591 US Route 68 S, West Liberty, OH 43357. All are welcome to come celebrate Glen’s life. Burial will take place privately at a future date.
