1960-2026
Gregory Scott Reames, 65, of Zanesfield, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio, on April 9, 2026. He was born on October 7, 1960, to the late Norman Eugene and Effie Alfeda (Gates) Reames.
Gregory is survived by his daughter, Amy (Kevin) Stoodt of Belle Center; grandchildren, Landon, Ella, and Harper Stoodt; fiancé, Wendy DeRossett of Zanesfield; beloved dogs, Tink, Roe, Scar, and Addie; brothers, Jeff (Mary) Reames of Marysville and Steve (Ruby) Reames of Bellefontaine, nieces and nephews, Tony Mortimer, Cory Reames, Jason Reames, Justice Reames, Tiffany Schwer, Logan Reames, and Brooke Dick; first wife, Dawna Reames, and her family.
Along with his parents, Gregory was preceded in death by his brother, Clifford Reames, and sister, Norma Reames.
Gregory cherished a simple lifestyle and spent his whole life in Middleburg and Zanesfield. Many of his closest friends were those he grew up with, remaining lifelong companions. He formed other friendships through shared experiences—whether around a campfire, at concerts, playing cards, mud running, golfing, playing softball, bowling, or shooting pool.
Gregory retired from Sims and Huber Moving Company. He enjoyed collecting anything with two or four wheels. Among his favorites were his Harley-Davidson motorcycles and his red Challenger. He loved to mushroom hunt where he shouldn’t be, going to watch the Cleveland Browns on opening day, and maybe getting rowdy in the Dawg Pound. May all his close friends and family remember his one-of-a-kind sense of humor.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to his brother, Steve, who dedicated the past two years to caring for Gregory.
Christian Keene will officiate a graveside service on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. in the Zanesfield Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Benjamin Logan Athletic Boosters, 4740 County Road 26, Bellefontaine, Ohio 43311.
