Larry D. Flora

Larry D. Flora, 73, of West Liberty, Ohio, went to his final resting place on Saturday, September 9th, 2023, at Mary Rutan Hospital, Bellefontaine.

Larry was born on January 23, 1950, in Bellefontaine Ohio, the son of the late Harley Zenith and Dorothy (Kennedy) Flora.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters; Ruth (Flora) Gantz, Shirley (Flora) Hostetler, Janet Flora and Karen Flora.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Pamela “Pam” (Carnes); two children, Krista (Matt) Henry of West Liberty, and Greg (Tracy) Flora of Bellefontaine, five grandchildren; Jackson and AJ Henry, Elijah Woodruff, Grace (Sam) Foell, Zane (Arianna) Woodruff,  three brothers; Don (Kathy)Flora of Springfield, Mike Flora of Mississippi, Steve Flora of West Liberty, and a sister, Connie (Bob) Farley of DeGraff, a special nephew who helped with farming, Kelly (Carollyn) Gantz.

Larry loved farming and taking care of his animals, as well as his Case / International Harvester tractors.  His favorite time of the year was the relief and satisfaction of having a successful harvest out of the fields.  Growing up on his family’s farm in West Liberty, and as he came to age, he continued to farm after his father’s passing.  He milked cows until 1997.  Through the 1970s and '80s, Larry played slow-pitch tournament softball for the Cavern Valley softball team where he enjoyed pitching. Later on, he transitioned to pitching horseshoes for the West Liberty Horseshoe Club where he enjoyed traveling to different tournaments.

In addition to farming, he served his country in the Ohio National Guard and worked for Indian Lake School District as Head of Maintenance as well as for Hobart/PMI/General Casting of West Liberty.

Pastor Daniel O’Kane will officiate a funeral service at 12 noon on Thursday, September 14, 2023, in the Bellefontaine Grace Church, 2220 S. Main St., Bellefontaine, OH.  Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the church.  Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, West Liberty.
