Leonard “Lennie” Allen Young, 79, of Lakeview, OH, passed away Saturday, January 31, 2026, at his home.
Leonard was born on July 28, 1946, in Bellefontaine, OH, a son of the late Milton A. and Donna K. (Insley) Young. He was also preceded in death by an infant son, Andrew Neal Young, a brother, Richard McBride, a sister, Diane (John) Watkins, father/mother-in-law, Don (Joan) Phelps, and a sister-in-law, Barbara McBride.
Leonard married Susan J. Phelps on October 23, 1971, at Belle Center United Methodist Church, and she survives. He is also survived by four children, Travis (Tisha) Young, Robin (Brent) Boots, Dan (Rebecca) Young, and Jill (Austin) Onyema, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, a brother, J. Michael McBride, a brother-in-law, Frank (Gayle) Phelps, three sisters-in -law, Linda (Gary) Peck, Karen (Bob) Blackburn, and Sandy (Harold) Davis, several nieces and nephews, and special friends, Ray and Linda Basil, and Mike Roberts.
Leonard attended Rushsylvania Local School and graduated from Childersburg High School in Alabama. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force during Vietnam. He retired from HBD after 33 years. Leonard was a member of Huntsville Presbyterian Church, where he sang in the choir. He was also a former member of the Singing Churchmen and Logannaires Barbershop Chorus.
Mike Roberts will begin funeral services at 3:00 pm, Sunday, February 8, 2026, at Shoffstall Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St, Lakeview, with visitation from 1-3. Private burial will be in Huntsville Cemetery.
