Lyman Dale Spencer, 85, of Lima, OH, formerly of Indian Lake, OH, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, March 23, 2026, at his home.
Dale was born on August 4, 1940, in Goshen Twp, Auglaize Co, OH, a son of the late Stanley and Mary Ann (Gossard) Spencer. He married Dianne Carrino on June 8, 1968, in Angola, IN, and she preceded him in death on May 20, 2012. He is also preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa N. Nichelson, a sister, Shirley Campbell, three brothers, Ferrell Spencer, Charles (Janet) Spencer, and Dwight (Roxy) Spencer.
Dale is survived by his son, Chris (Stephanie) Spencer of Lima, six grandchildren, Emily, Eleanor, Sarah, and Shelby Spencer, and Eric and Paul Nichelson, a brother, Bob (Joyce) Spencer of Waynesfield, OH, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Dale was a 1958 graduate of Waynesfield-Goshen High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during Vietnam. He worked at Scot Lad Foods (Roundy’s Inc) for 35 years as a truck driver, retiring in 2002. Dale was an avid fan of the OSU Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Reds, who enjoyed fishing and sharing a story or two with family and friends. He loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren and his Yorkie, Troy.
Pastor Jon Horn will begin funeral services at 11:00 am, Friday, March 27, 2026, at Shoffstall Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St., Lakeview. Visitation will be on Thursday, March 26th, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery, New Hampshire, OH, with Military Rites performed by the Wapakoneta VFW Post #8445 Honor Guard.
