Marjorie Mabel Louise Johnston, 99, of Jackson Center, passed away Friday, July 31, 2026.
She was born August 21, 1926, in Markham Township, Ontario, Canada, to the late Robert James Tutt and Lillian Julia (Coveyduck) Tutt.
Mabel worked at Yeasel, Inc. for several years and retired from Precision Custom Products in 1991. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, bowling, and solving jigsaw and word puzzles. Retirement began a busy time in her life with baking cookies and babysitting grandchildren, which brought her great joy. She attended many ball games and school programs as a proud Grandma. Mabel gave her time and energy freely, always ready and willing to help whenever needed.
Survivors include: son, Greg (Suzy Tapp) Johnston, and daughter, Nancy Carman; five grandchildren: Cliff Maxson, Ashley (Chad) Lile, Christopher (Steven) Carman, Michelle Carman, and Kyley (Shawn) Elam; five great-grandchildren: Gwen Lile, Ronin Lile, Kira Lile, Savannah Elam, and Harper Elam; two sisters: Madeline Harper and Bernice Brooker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers: Ernie Tutt, Harold Tutt, John Tutt; a sister, Hazel Mark; and son-in-law, Lawrence “Bud” Carman, Jr.
Private graveside services will take place at Glen Cemetery, Port Jefferson.
