Robert (Bob) Dean Watkins, 74, of Bellefontaine, passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at Ohio Health Hospice House.
Bob was born in Bellefontaine on January 26, 1952, to the late Leslie Dale Watkins and Shirley Ann (Shawver) Watkins. On August 16, 1972, he married Janice Ann (Wroten) Watkins, who survives.
Bob is also survived by sister Connie Geissinger of Kenton, brother Doug (Robyn) Watkins of Belle Center, sons James T. (Teresa) Watkins of Lexington, Kentucky, and Jon T. (Marie) Watkins of Rushsylvania, and daughter Tracie A. (Brian) Baker of Bellefontaine; six grandchildren; Zachary, Trevor, Kollette, Ryen, Dharma and Corbin; two great grandchildren; Rylee and Kiernan.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Wayne Geissinger.
Bob was a hard worker throughout life as a farmer and truck driver in his younger years and later retired from Honda after 17 years due to health issues. Bob had a profound love for music, writing two original songs published to record; “I Wonder Why” and “The Last of the Cowboys.” He was also the founder of Darby Creek Band, which won the Country Showdown two years in a row. Bob loved camping, fishing, tractors, golf, and spending time with his family. Throughout his life, he was quick-witted and always found ways to make people laugh. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held for friends and family at the Middleburg Community Church, 11824 State Route 287, East Liberty, OH 43319, on August 29 th at Noon.
In lieu of flowers, we request a tribute gift be made in his name to the American Lung Association.
