Robert “Bob” G. Detrick
1939-2026

Robert "Bob" G. Detrick, 86, of Bellefontaine, received his eternal reward at 1:38 a.m. on Monday, June 29, 2026, at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima, Ohio. This resulted from complications from a fall at home. He was born in DeGraff, Ohio, on August 21, 1939, to the late James Wilbur Detrick and Martha Thelma (Oder) Detrick.

On December 23, 1966, Bob married Janet Louise (Lytle) Detrick at Rum Creek Methodist Church and she survives, along with three daughters, Karen (Michael) Walters of Bowling Green, Ohio and their children, Robert "Bob" Walters, Rose Walters, and Alice Walters; Cheryl (Curtis) Brandt of Urbana and their children, Noah Brandt, Joy (David) Stroud and great grandchild Elora Stroud and another on the way, Claire (Luke) Stroud and great grandchild Waylon Stroud, and Zane Brandt; and Marilyn (Keith) Smith of DeGraff and their children, Kylee (Merrill) Smith-Russell and great grandchild Emmerson, Bailey (Hayes) Smith-Roebuck, Katelyn Esh, and Daniel Esh; two brothers, including his twin brother Wilbur "Bill" D. Detrick, and James "Jim" W. (Debbie) Detrick; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Dixie Detrick.

A U.S. Marine Corps Vietnam veteran from 1961 to 1965, Bob was a farmer and worked as a machine operator at the former D.A.B. for 39 years. He was a member of the Miami Valley American Legion Post #652 in DeGraff, Mended Hearts, Logan County Farmer’s Market, and served in several capacities, including Deacon and Sunday School teacher as a member of Stony Creek Church. In his retirement years, Bob experienced much joy as the “Engineer” of Grandpa’s Express while providing enjoyment to children at local community events.

Visitation will be from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, July 5, 2026, and from 9-10 a.m. on Monday, July 6, 2026, at Stony Creek Church, 3570 County Road 31 S. in Bellefontaine, where Pastor Harold Liess will officiate a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. on Monday. The funeral will be live-streamed beginning at 9:50 a.m. at youtube.com/@stonycreekchurchoh. Burial will follow in Greenwood-Union Cemetery in DeGraff, Ohio.
