Robert David Godwin
1939-2025

Robert “Bob” David Godwin, 86, of Monroe Township in West Liberty, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2025, at his beloved farm, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on April 27, 1939, to Chester and Velma Godwin, Bob was a lifelong resident of Monroe Township. He lived a life rooted in faith, family, and hard work.

Bob proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1967 to 1969, stationed in Augsburg, Germany, during the Vietnam War.

After returning home, he worked at Steel Products in Springfield, OH, where he contributed to the production of B-1 bombers and helicopter parts. He retired from Allied and Rider after ten dedicated years.

A man of many interests, Bob was an avid runner and proudly competed in the 2011 Senior Olympics in Houston, Texas, where he placed 18th in the nation. He made many friendships through his running over the years. He was also involved in the Logan County Antique Power Association and American Legion Woodard McGovern Post 426.

Bob enjoyed playing softball in his younger days at West Liberty Lions Park and had a passion for farming, raising beef cattle, and traveling. He visited all 50 states and several countries and worked tirelessly to keep his farm beautiful.

He was a devoted member of Middleburg Methodist Community Church.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Jacqueline “Sue” Godwin; his children: Darren (Amy) Godwin, Thomas J. “TJ” Godwin, Ronald (Marilyn) Godwin, and Teresa (Kyle) Hoffman. Mother-in-law, Coleen Hogue. Grandchildren: Ariel (Chance) Gough, Courtney (Brad) Elliott, Cicely Godwin, Nicholas (Rattiyakon) Godwin, Sarah, Matt, Ethan, Richard, Abigail, Stephen, Mallory, Gavin, Madison, Emily, and great-grandchildren Estella, Avery, Saylor, Reis, Silas, Storia, Lennon, Layton, and Karson. He is also survived by his siblings: Kathy (Fred) Deardurff, Thomas (Joan) Godwin, and Karen Tevis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Kyle Godwin; his sister, Grace Godwin Stevenson; his brother, Charles Godwin; his niece, Judy Stevenson; and his nephew. Randy.

Bob will be remembered for his quiet strength, his deep love for his family, and his unwavering work ethic. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, selfishness,
perseverance, and love.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at Jennings Farley & Seeley Funeral Home and Crematory, 5591 US Highway 68 South, West Liberty, Ohio 43357.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Mac-O-Chee Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Universal Home and Hospice Care, and American Legion Woodard McGovern Post 426, in Bob’s memory.
