Robert S. “Steve” Hindenlang, 68, of Lakeview, OH, passed away early Wednesday morning, May 27, 2026, at his home.
Robert was born on December 10, 1957, in West Palm Beach, FL, a son of the late Robert S. and Lorraine E. (Barrington) Hindenlang.
Steve is survived by a sister, Jane Hindenlang of Xenia, OH, a brother, Fred Hindenlang of Wapakoneta, OH, his canine companions, and many cousins and friends.
Steve was a 1976 graduate of Wapakoneta High School. He was a career Journeyman Electrician through IBEW Local 32 in Lima, OH. He was an active member of Indian Lake Moose Lodge #1533, Indian Lake Eagles Aeries #3615, and was the founder of Indian Lake Sled Heads. He enjoyed playing billiards and participated in many pool leagues. He also enjoyed boating and snowmobiling, making yearly snowmobiling trips to Michigan. He raced remote control boats for several years and participated in the Mackinac Bridge Vintage Snowmobile Crossing. Steve was kindhearted and helped raise funds through poker runs with Indian Lake Sled Heads and participated for many years in the Suicide Prevention Coalition of Logan and Champaign County Save a Life Color 5K at Ohio Caverns.
Reverend Jim Ellington will officiate funeral services at 4:00 pm, Sunday, May 31, 2026, at Shoffstall Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St., Lakeview, with visitation from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm. Inurnment will be in Spencerville Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in Steve’s memory to the Suicide Prevention Coalition of Logan and Champaign Counties at www.mhdas.org.
