1958-2025
Rock E. O’Brien, 67, of Columbus, Ohio, and formerly of Rushsylvania, Ohio, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2025. He was born on September 13, 1959, in Bellefontaine, Ohio, to the late Willard C. and Shirley I. (Rogers) O’Brien. He lived in the hope of his Savior, Jesus Christ.
Rock was a 1976 graduate from Benjamin Logan High School and later obtained an Associate’s Degree in Arts and Business Administration in 1985 from Lima Technical College (now Rhodes State College). He spent much of his life working as a computer operator, where he achieved certifications to be a Novell Network Administrator and Novell Certified Network Engineer, where he worked on the world’s second-largest Novell Network.
Rock enjoyed spending time with his beloved dog Hank, children, grandchildren, family, and friends. He was always up for laughter and a good joke. One of his fondest memories was playing his guitar and singing to his children.
Rock is preceded in death by his parents, Willard C. and Shirley I. (Rogers) O’Brien, and granddaughter Abbigail C. Dotson.
He is survived by his former wife, Teresea (Harpest) O’Brien, their children, Alexa (Jason) Anderson, Rebecca (Joshua) Dotson, Kurtis (Diana) O’Brien, grandchildren Spencer and Gemma Anderson, sister Cindy (Mark) Zeller, along with several nieces and nephews and friends.
Visitation will take place at Jennings Farley and Seeley Funeral Home and Crematory in West Liberty, Ohio, on Monday, December 22, 2025, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with services following the visitation. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Cemetery in West Liberty, Ohio, at a later date.
