Ruby Kay Smith, 74, of Bellefontaine, passed away Monday evening, February 16, 2026, at Logan Acres Care Center.

Ruby was born in Dixon, Illinois, on November 25, 1951, to Dolores A. (Carter) Glover and the late Paul H. Glover.   She was also preceded in death by a sister, Debbie Anderson.

Ruby married Mel Smith on August 22, 1970, and he survives in Bellefontaine. She is also survived by children:  Tracy N. (Jeff) Horney of Bellefontaine, and Jason B. (Erin) Smith of South Carolina; three grandchildren:  Elizabeth (Brent) Tingley, Kayla Horney, and Keaton Horney; two sisters: Pam (Bob) Johnson of Illinois, and Dawn (Tom) Rogers of Texas; and several nieces & nephews.

Ruby worked as a registered nurse at Mary Rutan Hospital in Medical Records and Care Coordination for over 20 years before she retired.  She was also a yoga instructor, and enjoyed bowling and golfing.  Ruby loved reading, being in her kitchen, and spending time with the kids.   Halloween was a special holiday for Ruby, and she made it fun for all.

There will be no services at this time for Ruby.  The family would like to thank the staff, and especially the Therapy Department, at Logan Acres for the care they provided to Ruby and the family.
