Sandra L. Mendenhall, 76, of Bellefontaine, formerly of Springfield, passed away March 11, 2026, in her residence surrounded by her loving family.
She was born November 11, 1949, in Springfield, the daughter of Robert W. and Martha L. (Rockwell) Powell. Mrs. Mendenhall enjoyed reading and spending time with her grandchildren and family. Sandra also enjoyed going to see plays and musicals with her sister. She had been employed at the Clark County Job and Family Services and at numerous dentists’ offices.
She is survived by one son and daughter in law; Adam and Pamela Mendenhall, grandchildren; George Carter Mendenhall and Caden Thomas Mendenhall, step children; George “Skip” (Judy) Mendenhall, Richard Mendenhall, William Mendenhall, and Karen Spadden, several step grandchildren, a sister; Carol Groeber and nieces and nephews; Mark Powell, Jeff Powell, Kathy Webb, Jen Debard, Michael Groeber, Elisabeth Groeber, Julie Deel, Holly Gossard, Amanda Herron and James Stuckey.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George E. Mendenhall, in 2010, siblings John Powell, Julia Downey, and Nancy Herron, and her parents.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Monday, March 16th, 2026, at the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM with Pastor Paul Dowdy officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park.
