Shawn Lee Humphrey, 11, of Lakeview, OH, passed away unexpectedly, January 25, 2026.
Shawn was born on May 1, 2014, in Bellefontaine, OH, a son of Jristian L. (Bailey) Humphrey, who survives in Lakeview, and Justice N.J. (Zane Robinson) Oyer, who survives in Union City, OH. He is preceded in death by great grandparents, Cinda and Edward Dickinson, Roland Harrington, Jackie and Les Hofacker, Jim Dickerson, Chuck Wise, and Bill Zimmer, Sr., aunt, Tabitha Hollar, and uncles, Caleb Zwiebel, Bill Zimmer, Jr. and Danny Zimmer.
Shawn is survived by his parents, four siblings, Clinton Humphrey, Paisley Dickerson, Ella Humphrey, and Nova Robinson, Paternal grandparents, Jim and Michelle Humphrey of Lakeview, Lannie Blosser of Knoxville, TN, and Mike and Polly Dickerson of Bellefontaine, maternal grandparents, Misty Stachler of Union City, and Jason and Katisha Robinson of West Mansfield, OH, great grandparents, Jim and Bonnie Humphrey, Marlene Wise, Linda Raye Blosser, Reta Catterson, Marie Harrington, and Betty Dickerson, aunts and uncles, Cory and Angela Oyer, Jamie Humphrey, Jaydee Humphrey, Reta and Karissa Boop, Billie (Seth Epps) Boop, Zachary Gonterman, Cody Stachler, Connor (Kierstin) Dickerson, Glen (Tiffany) Dickerson, Charles Newland, and Chad (Sonya) Harrington, and several cousins.
Shawn is a 6th grader at Indian Lake Middle School. He was an extremely active individual, playing flag football in Bellefontaine and Tipp City, playing baseball in Union City, playing basketball in Bellefontaine, and Union City singing in the ILMS choir and playing percussion instruments in Band at Union City. He enjoyed video games, going to concerts, singing, dancing, and being outside, riding his skateboard, dirt bike, and bicycle, fishing, hunting, camping, and hiking, where he would rock hunt and look for hidden waterfalls. Shawn was a friendly and engaging person who loved meeting people; he never knew a stranger and would win others over with his contagious smile. His greatest time was spent with his family and friends.
Rich Szima will begin funeral services at 3:00 pm, Sunday, February 1, 2026, at Shoffstall Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St, Lakeview, with visitation from 1-3 pm.
Memorial contributions may be given in Shawn’s memory to Indian Lake State Park for improvements at Blackhawk Park or MHDAS.org to support youth mental health services.
