Vaughn K. Carmean
1936-2024

Vaughn K. Carmean, 88, entered Glory on September 22, 2024, at Campbell Place, Bellefontaine, Ohio. He was born July 2, 1936, in Kenton, Ohio to the late Stanley Guy Carmean and Olive Louise (Kephart) Carmean.

He married Della M. Moss on June 14, 1958. He was preceded in death by all his siblings: Sisters Ann Harrison, Ruth Veeneman, Florence Fisher, and brothers Richard Carmean & James Carmean. He was also preceded in death by his son, Mark A Carmean.

Vaughn is survived by his wife of 66 years. He is also survived by his daughter, Pam (Dave) Watts; grandchildren Kristin Carmean, Daniel Watts & Tyler Watts. He had 8 great-grandchildren, Dominic Patton, Koby & Ethyn Griffith, Kennedy & Madison Watts, Anamarie, Adaline & Cree Watts, and many nieces & nephews.

Vaughn was an excellent athlete in high school sports including football, baseball, and track attending Miami University on a football scholarship. He served in the US Army in 1955-1957. He held an Insurance License as well as an Auctioneering License. He served as an Ohio Game Warden in Geauga, Lake, and Van Wert Counties in the 1960s. He retired from Navistar, Springfield, in 1996.

Vaughn was a man of many talents working with his hands refinishing furniture, repairing vehicles, building a log house, crafting stain-glass pieces, maintaining his flower gardens and his interests included photography, daily crossword puzzles, Buckeye football, hunting & fishing. He enjoyed traveling the United States, Europe & Israel. His main focus, however, was the love of his life, Della, and their family.

Vaughn was a devoted husband, loving father, and grandfather who was kind & compassionate. In keeping with his great sense of humor, he always said he wanted to go to medical school so, he donated his body to The Ohio State University for research.

He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where a Celebration of Life will be held, on October 8, 2024, at 11:00 AM, visitation 9:30-11:00 AM. The church is located at 1140 Rush Avenue, Bellefontaine, OH.
