Vera Elaine DeMarsh, 86, formerly of Belle Center, passed away Wednesday afternoon, August 5, 2026, at Logan Acres Care Center, Bellefontaine.
Elaine was born in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, on March 29, 1940, to the late Otto and Vera (Schaper) Brueck. She married Charles Louis DeMarsh on July 20, 1962, in Ft. Wayne, and he preceded her in death on November 7, 2008. Elaine was also preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Glenn Leaming.
Elaine is survived by her children: Teresa (Thomas) Hatton of Huber Heights, Ohio, Mary DeMarsh (Ken Herbers) of Bluffton, South Carolina, and John (Amy) DeMarsh of Findlay; three grandchildren: Nicholas (Alyssa) Hatton, Andrew Hatton (Ciara Miller), and Gina DeMarsh; great granddaughter Emery Hatton; sister Marsha (Richard) Dafforn of Churubusco, Indiana; and her best friend and companion Herschel Cummings of Bellefontaine.
Elaine was a graduate of New Haven High School, New Haven, Indiana. She was an active member of the Logan County History Center since 1988. A talented seamstress, she made clothing for her children and won several first-place ribbons for her quilts at the Logan County Fair. She enjoyed reading, jigsaw puzzles, counted cross stitch and painting with watercolors.
Elaine will be interred beside her husband in St. James the Apostle Parish Cemetery, Villa Maria, Pennsylvania, at a later date. It was her wish to have no calling hours or services.
