Walter Phillip Miner
1942-2026

Walter Phillip Miner, 83, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, and formerly of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones in Columbus, Ohio. He was born on November 1, 1942, in Bellefontaine, Ohio, to the late Phillip Dayle and Jean Marcia (Mayer) Miner. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Nikki Ann (Jack) Smith.

He was a proud father to his children: Gary (Stacey) Guisinger, Mark (Jaime Rossler) Miner, Matthew Miner, and Melinda Miner; a proud grandfather to his grandchildren who he adored: Ethan, Emily, Erin, Ella, and Erica Guisinger, Joselyn, Sloane, Evan, and Emerson Miner, Dorian Godsey and Layla Buchanan; and a proud great grandfather to his beautiful great granddaughter, Mai’lani Nova who he loved so deeply. He also leaves behind his significant other of 21 years and best friend, Marcella Clark; his sister, Marcia Miner; nieces and nephews: Jodi (Peanut) Robinson, Kaci Smith, Rodney Burnett, Miranda (Burt) Hunt, Justin (Katherine) Kilcrease, Margaret Myers, and Julia (Ryan) Doughman; great nieces and nephews: Cody Wright, Katy (Stefanie) Fright, Daniel Oakley, Dustin (Aliyah Sanford) Oakley; many great-great nieces and nephews; and a lifelong friend, Jennifer Lang.

Walt was a graduate of Bellefontaine High School, where he was a 4-sport letterman, excelling in basketball, baseball, football, and track. He was an avid sports fan and also played golf and softball, including playing for the Pink House softball team.  After high school, he also competed in and won many dance competitions. Walt loved watching the Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns and was a member of the Browns Backers, Clark County Chapter. One of his favorite hobbies was traveling to different golf courses around the country.

He retired from the United States Postal Service and still would meet up with his lunch bunch postal service workers in Clark County. He attended Auburn Ave Baptist Church in Bellefontaine. He was a dog lover, and his family meant the world to him. He will be deeply missed and always remembered.

There will be a memorial service for Walt on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a time for celebrating his life until 3:00 at the Auburn Avenue Baptist Church, 216 E Auburn Ave, Bellefontaine, Ohio 43311. The family chose a later date for people to plan around and be able to pay their respects, so please join them for food and fellowship after his service.
