Commissioners to hear Paradise at the Lake variances

The Logan County Board of Commissioners has scheduled a public meeting to hear potential variance requests tied to the proposed Paradise at the Lake development.

The meeting will take place Thursday, May 7, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at the Colonial Building, located at 117 East Columbus Avenue in Bellefontaine.

Commissioners will hear directly from the developer regarding requests that were initially submitted earlier this year.

Officials note that additional requests could also be presented during the meeting.

The matter is being brought before the Commissioners because the proposed development is located in an un-zoned portion of Stokes Township, requiring county-level consideration.

According to submitted documents, the developer is requesting several variances related to subdivision design, including reduced roadway right-of-way widths, allowance for dead-end streets, flexibility in block lengths, and adjustments to lot configurations.

County Engineer recommendations indicate some of those requests may be acceptable with conditions, such as maintaining minimum roadway widths and ensuring emergency access standards are met.

A proposed site layout included in the materials shows a large-scale development featuring winding roadways, multiple lots, and access points from State Route 235 and Township Road 250.

County leaders emphasize that this session is strictly for informational purposes and to allow the developer to outline the requested variances.

There will be no opportunity for public comment—either for or against the project—during this meeting.

Public input will be accepted at a later date.

Officials say formal hearings will be scheduled after Commissioners have had time to review the requests and gather feedback from relevant agencies, including sewer officials, the county engineer’s office, and Stokes Township trustees.
