Despite cool temperatures and gray skies, there was no shortage of smiles, laughter, and excitement Saturday morning in Russells Point as the village officially opened its brand-new splash pad.

Located at the park behind the Russells Point Municipal Building, just past the pickleball courts, the new splash pad is designed to provide a fun place for families to cool off throughout the summer.

Children wasted no time running through the water, filling the air with giggles and shrieks as families gathered to celebrate the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the long-awaited community attraction.

The splash pad is the result of years of planning, fundraising, and hard work.

Village leaders, community organizations, local businesses, volunteers, and residents all played a role in making the project a reality.

Their shared vision, along with countless hours of dedication and community support, transformed an idea into one of the village’s newest family-friendly destinations.

Mayor John Huffman says the splash pad is a project the village has looked forward to for years and is excited to finally see families enjoying it.

Dozens of residents attended the celebration, joined by local elected officials, law enforcement officers, community leaders, and project supporters.

Project Coordinator Joan Hinterschied was emotional seeing the project come to reality.

While the weather may not have been ideal, those involved in the project agreed it couldn’t have been a more perfect day to celebrate.

The opening marked not only the completion of a new recreational feature but also another investment in the future of the Indian Lake community.

With the ribbon officially cut, children (and even the Mayor and Hinterschied!) eagerly rushed into the water, signaling the beginning of what is expected to be a popular summertime destination.
