West Liberty teen injured in Champaign County crash

According to a press release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, they are investigating a serious injury crash in Champaign County that happened Wednesday afternoon shortly before 1:30 PM.

The preliminary investigation revealed a red 1999 Ford Ranger, operated by Grant Saylor, 19, of West Liberty, was traveling south on Ludlow Road.

A white 2017 International MA025 operated by Jack Thompson, 47, of Homerville, was traveling west on Kanagy Road.

The International MA025 failed to yield at a stop sign, striking the Ford Ranger.

Both vehicles traveled off the south side of Kanagy Road; the International MA025 overturned.

The Ford Ranger struck an unoccupied silver 2016 Cadillac SRX, owned by Edward L. Hudson, 90, Cable, on his private property.

Saylor was transported by Careflight to Miami Valley Hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

Thompson was transported by EMS to Mercy Health in Urbana with minor injuries.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the West Liberty Fire and EMS, Careflight, Macochee EMS, City of Urbana Fire and EMS, Champaign County Sheriff’s Office, and Dan’s Towing.

The crash remains under investigation.
