Forrest and Katie Amidon were honored at the annual Logan County Senior Day Celebration and Resource Fair at Bellefontaine Grace Church on Thursday morning. The Amidon’s, both former teachers and longtime fixtures at the Logan County Friendly Senior Center, received the honor of being named the 2026 Logan County Outstanding Senior Citizens in front of their family and dozens of local seniors at the celebration.
Katie Amidon talks about the honor:
In addition to several elected officials in attendance, including Bellefontaine Mayor David Crissman and Logan County Commissioners Mike Yoder and Joe Antram, representatives from local agencies were on hand to inform area seniors about the services that are available to them.
The celebration began with a proclamation read by Commissioner Yoder designating May 28, 2026, as Logan County Senior Citizen Day. Guests also enjoyed several selections from the Friendly Senior Center Choir, door prizes, and a catered lunch provided by Chefhouse of Bellefontaine.
Logan County Friendly Center Director Gwyn Stetler said the event showcases area agencies and organizations that provide valuable resources for area seniors, many of whom don’t realize that assistance is available locally:
