A man was arrested for drunk driving Friday night after police received a complaint about an intoxicated driver at the Speedway gas station on South Main Street.

According to the Bellefontaine Police Department, officers were called to Speedway around 8:15 p.m. after someone reported seeing a driver hit a pole while parking and drive over a grassy area nearby.

When officers arrived, they found the vehicle parked at the gas station.

The driver later returned to the vehicle, and officers made contact with him.

Police identified the driver as Noe Ajxup, 27, of Bellefontaine.

Officers reported that Ajxup appeared intoxicated and admitted to drinking alcohol.

Because of a language barrier, officers used a translator app and later a Spanish-speaking interpreter to communicate with him.

Police conducted field sobriety tests and determined he was impaired.

Ajxup was taken to the Bellefontaine Police Department, where he agreed to a breath test.

The test showed a blood-alcohol level of 0.183, which is more than twice Ohio’s legal limit of 0.08.

He was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence, driving with a high breath-alcohol concentration, and driving without a valid driver’s license.

Ajxup was issued a court date in Bellefontaine Municipal Court and later released to a friend who drove him home.
