The City of Bellefontaine has released its annual Consumer Confidence Report, showing the city’s drinking water continues to meet or exceed all state and federal water quality standards.
The report covers water quality testing conducted throughout 2025 and provides residents with information about where the city’s drinking water comes from and how it is treated before reaching homes and businesses.
Bellefontaine’s drinking water is supplied by a groundwater system consisting of wells that draw from local aquifers.
The water is routinely tested for bacteria, disinfectants, metals, nitrates, and other potential contaminants, with all regulated substances remaining within limits established by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency.
The report notes that, as with any public water system, trace amounts of naturally occurring minerals and other substances may be detected. Still, testing confirmed the city’s water remained safe to drink throughout the year.
City officials encourage residents to review the report to learn more about Bellefontaine’s water system, water conservation, and the city’s ongoing efforts to provide safe, reliable drinking water.
