Bellefontaine Robotics hosts 2nd annual Showdown at the Peak

BCS Robotics (9185) welcomed more than 80 teams to the 2nd annual Showdown at the Peak held Saturday at Bellefontaine High School.

The event featured both High School and Middle School divisions and showcased students’ engineering, programming, and teamwork skills.

High School Division Results

Bellefontaine fielded four teams, all of which advanced to the elimination tournament.

Teams 9185T Terminator, 9185W it’s Whatever, and 9185M Minifridge each finished the qualification rounds with 4-2 records, placing 9th, 10th, and 12th respectively.

Team 9185K Kratos went 3-3, finishing 23rd.

All four Bellefontaine teams won their opening elimination matches.

In the quarterfinals, Minifridge was defeated by the overall No. 1 alliance.

Kratos and It’s Whatever teamed up but were narrowly defeated by Terminator and their alliance partner from Triway High School.

Terminator advanced to the semifinals, where they lost in a close match to the eventual runner-up alliance.

Terminator also captured the Design Award for the 10th time this season, recognizing excellence in engineering documentation.

It’s Whatever earned the Judges Award for teamwork and overall performance.

Middle School Division Results

Bellefontaine Middle School teams also had an outstanding showing.

Team 9185B- Banana Boys finished 6-0 in qualifications, earning the No. 1 seed overall.

9185N- Gemini and 9185S- Scrambled Eggz both went 4-2, placing 10th and 15th.

The Boblobs and Scooby Dudes each finished 3-3, while Pickle Bots, Recycled Brains, and Dill Pickles all earned match wins during the day.

In elimination matches, Gemini and Scrambled Eggz won their first rounds before falling in the quarterfinals.

Banana Boys advanced all the way to the finals, finishing as tournament runners-up.

Banana Boys also earned the Skills Champion title and the Judges’ Award.

BCS students reported a great day of robotics competition. “It was great to show off our robots and skills to friends and family,” said one BMS student.

9185 Robotics wants to thank Bellefontaine City Schools for allowing use of the high school facilities and expressed appreciation to the many volunteers, judges, referees, families, and boosters who helped make the event a success.

All four BHS teams (Kratos, Minifridge, Terminator, and it’s Whatever) and 2 BMS teams (Banana Boys and Scrambled Eggz) have qualified and will compete in the Ohio State VEX Championship on March 4 and 5 (middle school) and March 6 and 7th (high school) at the US Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio.
