LIFTED:Bellefontaine issues boil advisory for parts of Garfield Avenue

The City of Bellefontaine has officially lifted a boil water advisory affecting select areas along Garfield Avenue after receiving confirmation that the water supply meets all required safety standards.

According to a public notice issued Friday, April 10, 2026, laboratory testing confirmed the water is safe for consumption in the following locations:

  • 1000 block of Garfield Avenue, Lots 61 through 70
  • 1000 block of Garfield Avenue, Lots 83 through 92

Residents in these areas may now resume normal use of tap water, including for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, making ice, and washing dishes.

As a precautionary measure, city officials recommend flushing household plumbing by running cold water taps for several minutes to help ensure fresh water is circulating throughout the system.

City officials also expressed appreciation for residents’ patience and cooperation during the advisory period and apologized for any inconvenience caused.

The City of Bellefontaine Water Department has issued a boil water advisory for residents in the 1000 block of Garfield Avenue, specifically Lots 61–70 and Lots 83–92, according to city officials.

Residents are advised to boil all water for at least three minutes before using it for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, or any other consumption purposes.

If the water appears discolored or cloudy, it should be run until it becomes clear.

Water samples will be collected over the next 24 hours and tested within 48 hours.

The advisory will be lifted once test results confirm the water is safe.

The city apologized for any inconvenience and thanked residents for their patience as crews work to resolve the issue.

Officials said the advisory is a precautionary measure and urged residents to follow the guidelines until further notice.
