On Thursday, area high school juniors and seniors had the opportunity to participate in Logan County Manufacturing Day, an event designed to connect students with local manufacturing industries. Hosted at DMG Tool & Die, Powerbuilt, and NX Automotive Logistics, this annual celebration aims to highlight the diverse career opportunities within the manufacturing sector.

National Manufacturing Day, observed on the first Friday of October, emphasizes the vital role that manufacturing plays in the economy and workforce. While only 8% of the national workforce is employed in manufacturing, over 30% of Logan County residents work in this field, driving economic growth and creating essential products.

The event, organized by the Midwest Regional Educational Service Center in collaboration with the Logan County Chamber of Commerce, welcomed nearly 150 students from Benjamin Logan, Bellefontaine, Indian Lake, Ohio Hi-Point, and Riverside High Schools. Students toured various manufacturing facilities, including EWH Spectrum and the Honda PRO Center, gaining insights into the latest technologies and production processes.

Through these tours, students learned how interconnected the manufacturing companies in Logan County are and the skills needed to thrive in these industries. By witnessing firsthand the innovations and operations within local manufacturers, students are better equipped to consider careers in this dynamic field.

As Logan County continues to celebrate Manufacturing Month, events like these serve as crucial platforms for promoting manufacturing as a viable and attractive career choice for young people, ensuring that the local workforce remains strong and capable of meeting future challenges.
