Deputy Bryan Carnes of the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office was recognized Friday as the 2025 Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Deputy of the Year.
The award was presented by the Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol Services Board of Logan and Champaign Counties and honors Carnes for his outstanding commitment to assisting individuals experiencing mental health crises with professionalism, compassion, and dignity.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Carnes consistently demonstrates the values of the CIT program through his ability to de-escalate difficult situations, connect individuals with critical community resources, and provide exceptional service to those in need.
Officials say his dedication to helping others and strengthening partnerships between law enforcement and mental health professionals has made a lasting impact throughout the community.
