Monday at the 185th Champaign County Fair brings another full day of Junior Fair livestock competition, family activities, live entertainment, and a special evening at the track.
The day begins with livestock shows across the fairgrounds. At 8:30 a.m., the Junior Fair Dairy Showmanship competition starts in the Woodruff Show Arena, followed by the Junior Fair Dairy Cows and Heifers Show and Dairy Pee Wee Showmanship.
At 9 a.m., the Swine Show Arena hosts the FFA Market Barrow Show, followed by the Scramble Class and the 4-H Market Barrow Show. Junior Fair Horse Show competition also continues throughout the morning.
Fairgoers can take part in the Ag Innovation Series from 10 to 11 a.m. and again from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Activities Building. Other Monday highlights include the Rabbit Presentation Contest at noon, Dress-A-Goat at 12:30 p.m., and Junior Fair Rabbit Showmanship beginning at 1 p.m.
Sheep exhibitors take over the Woodruff Show Arena at 3 p.m. with the Junior Fair Sheep Showmanship, followed by Sheep Breeding, Sheep Born and Raised, and New Beginnings classes. The Performance Pig Show begins at 4 p.m. in the Swine Show Arena.
The evening brings music, racing, and a special community celebration. David Wayne will perform from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Lions Park Gazebo, while horse exhibitors compete in the Junior Fair Horse Versatility Class at 6 p.m.
The main attraction of the evening is the Harness Races – Buckeye Stallion Series, with post time at 6:30 p.m. The races will also serve as Urbana Area Chamber of Commerce Night at the Races, bringing local businesses and fairgoers together for an exciting night of competition and community recognition.
The day wraps up with the ATIG Youth Exhibitors Pizza Party at 7 p.m. near the Show Arena at Melvin Park.
