The Indian Lake Board of Education met in regular session Monday night and heard a report from District Treasurer Brady Hipsher, who recommended that the board consider refinancing the remaining bonds for the construction of the Elementary School.
Hipsher said the bonds are eligible for refinancing before the end of the year, so he will work on a resolution for the board to consider in time to approve the refinancing if it is advantageous to district taxpayers.
District Superintendent Dr. Rob Underwood talks about the possible refinancing:
It is estimated that the refinancing could save the taxpayers over $40,000 per year.
Additionally, Hipsher said that the school year ended with revenue slightly above projections.
He said that property tax receipts and state funding were both on target, but noted that federal funding appears to be approximately $60,000 under projections.
In other board proceedings, Dr. Underwood recognized several members of the track team for their recent performance at the state track meet:
- Addison Beck – State qualifier in high jump – Division 3
- Gavin Henry – State qualifier in 110-meter hurdles – Division 3
- Aiden Stinebaugh – 3rd place in triple jump in state indoor meet – Division 3
- Chris Timms – 8th place in shot put – Division 3
- Oliver Wilson – 2nd place seated, 400-meter and state champion shot put – OSHAA Middle School meet
