The Washington Township Police Department is looking for community members and local businesses to help bring an idea to life.

Known as Indian Lake Safety Town, Indian Lake School Resource Officer J.R. Brenner is working to bring his idea to fruition and hopes it will feature a miniature, student-scale learning environment where children can practice everyday safety lessons through interactive, real-life scenarios.

The project includes 4-foot by 4-foot mini buildings representing community locations such as storefronts, offices, and services.

Each sponsored structure will help students learn how to safely navigate common situations while reinforcing key safety concepts.

Three sponsorship levels are available.

Brenner sat down with News Director April King on Listen Up! Sunday morning to talk more about the idea and how you can help:

Funds raised will support construction of the miniature buildings, traffic signs and signals, safety equipment such as pedal cars and helmets, and long-term maintenance of the Safety Town setup.

According to Brenner, every dollar raised will directly benefit Indian Lake students, while also strengthening community partnerships.
