Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose is reminding voters to make sure their voter registration is up to date as the state continues cleaning up its voter rolls.
The process is meant to remove old or inactive voter registrations while making sure eligible Ohioans can still vote.
The state looks for registrations that may no longer be valid in two ways. It checks for people who have moved without updating their voter registration, and it also identifies voters who have not voted, updated their registration, or responded to election mail for six years.
No voter registrations will be removed before the November 2026 General Election.
By September 11, voters who may be affected will receive a Registration Readiness Notice in the mail.
Anyone who gets one can keep their registration active by responding to the notice, updating their voter information, or voting.
The state plans to remove abandoned voter registrations on January 27, 2027.
Officials say the process follows both state and federal law and is designed to keep Ohio’s voter rolls accurate.
Anyone can check their voter registration or register to vote at VoteOhio.gov.
