Local businesses are joining forces to think outside the box, are building stronger connections, fostering idea-sharing, and supporting growth across the local business community.
Meeting once a month, the second Wednesday at 7:30 AM at the Sign Shop outside Bellefontaine, organized by entrepreneur Jon Watkins, who has been laying the groundwork through his popular monthly series, Coffee, Donuts, and Connection.
These relaxed, early morning gatherings offer professionals a consistent space to meet, talk, and support one another—no pressure, no pitches.
“These meetups are about people, not promotions,” Watkins said. “They’re built on trust, shared experience, and the idea that we’re stronger when we work together.”
At a recent session, the group tackled a topic that resonates deeply with many entrepreneurs: competition vs. collaboration in the small business world.
The discussion sparked real insights and practical takeaways:
- Trust is key
- Respect is crucial
- Communication is a must
- Collaboration can be the best way to serve your customer
Watkins shared a powerful example: “There are shops in our service area that specialize in work we’ve chosen not to focus on. Even though we technically ‘compete,’ we’re happy to refer our customers to them because we know they’ll get the best result. That’s a win-win. We serve our clients better, and we build stronger business relationships at the same time.”
The success of these monthly conversations is what inspired the upcoming 2025 Marketing Symposium, now set to launch on June 11th.
The event will include expert panels, focusing on business marketing, designed to help local professionals grow their businesses while strengthening the broader community.
Ash Watkins, Jon Watkins, and Jordan Treadway will lead the discussion.
They joined News Director April King on Sunday morning on Listen Up!:
What makes this movement unique is its grassroots nature.
There’s no hidden agenda, no corporate sponsorship driving the message—just real business owners supporting each other through honest conversations and shared values.
Anyone interested in joining the movement is welcome to attend an upcoming Coffee, Donuts, and Connection session to get involved and attend the 2025 Marketing Symposium.
