The 46th annual Logan Hills Festival runs May 23rd through the 25th and will feature reenactments, vendors, food trucks, live entertainment, and family activities throughout the weekend.
One of the featured attractions is the 17th Annual Woodland Gathering, which honors Native American culture and veterans through music, dancing, storytelling, and ceremonial activities.
Organizers say all dancers are welcome to participate, and admission to the festival is free.
Grand Entry ceremonies for the Woodland Gathering are scheduled for noon on both Saturday and Sunday, with retreat ceremonies planned for 5 p.m. each day.
The event will also feature the People’s Medicine Drum and the Mingo River Singers.
Saturday, May 23
Saturday’s schedule begins with a library book sale from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Dr. Sloan Library downtown.
Opening events at the park begin at 11 a.m. with the Citizen of the Year presentation at the shelter house.
The Woodland Gathering Grand Entry takes place from noon until 3 p.m. at the main drum circle, followed by pony rides at Marmon Valley Farms from 2 until 4:30 p.m. by appointment.
The Taloga Outdoor Drama is scheduled for 3 p.m., weather permitting.
Woodland Gathering activities resume at 5 p.m., with a closing ceremony at 6:30.
Saturday evening wraps up with music from Joe Pine and American Entertainment from 7 until 11 p.m. at the shelter house.
Sunday, May 24
Sunday activities begin with a church service at 10 a.m. in the encampment area.
At noon, visitors can enjoy Petanque at the Petanque Court and the Grand Entry Woodland Gathering at the main drum circle.
A hog roast meal will be served from 12:30 until 7:30 p.m. at the LHF Building shelter house.
Pony rides return from 2 until 4:30 p.m. at Marmon Valley Farms.
The Woodland Gathering closing ceremony is planned for 4:30 p.m., followed by the Taloga Outdoor Drama at 5 p.m., weather permitting.
Live music from Jeremy Liles is scheduled from 6:30 until 8 p.m. at the shelter house.
Monday, May 25
Memorial Day events begin with a pancake and sausage breakfast from 7:30 until 11 a.m. at the shelter house featuring Ron Downs Maple Syrup.
A parade through the village begins at 9 a.m., traveling to the Zanesfield Cemetery for a memorial service.
A Pickers Auction by Art Rausch is set for 11:30 a.m. near the shelter house, while the Zanesfield Methodist Church hosts a country luncheon downtown beginning at 11:30.
The Taloga Outdoor Drama returns at 3 p.m., weather permitting.
