State Representative Ty Mathews, District 83, visited Logan County Wednesday morning for a Business Impact meeting with members of the Logan County Chamber of Commerce.
Mathews, a freshman representative, also serves as the head of the State Veterans Committee and is a Captain in the Ohio National Guard.
During the meeting, which was attended by nearly two dozen local business leaders, Mathews gave an update on various issues being discussed at the state house.
Topics included the state budget, property taxes, school funding, and economic development.
Mathews also spoke about newer issues like DOGE, the Ohio Defense Initiative, which aims to strengthen the state’s defense industry, and the role of the International Trade Commission in helping Ohio grow its international trade.
“It’s important to keep our business community informed about the issues that affect them,” Mathews said. “I’m glad to have the chance to hear from local leaders and discuss how we can continue to support businesses in Ohio.”

As head of the State Veterans Committee, Mathews also stressed his commitment to supporting Ohio’s veterans.
The meeting allowed for open discussion between local business leaders and Mathews.
