The Mechanicsburg Board of Education held its regular February meeting on Monday, February 9, during which Superintendent Danielle Prohaska formally presented the district’s 2025 Measures That Matter Report.

Following that presentation, Mechanicsburg Exempted Village School District publicly released the comprehensive annual report, which moves beyond traditional test scores to highlight the programs, values, and initiatives shaping student success. The publication serves as both a roadmap for the district’s strategic goals and a celebration of recent achievements, emphasizing the district’s commitment to “Learning for All.”

Designed to tell the full story of the Mechanicsburg experience, the Measures That Matter report focuses on four pillars—Academics, Athletics, Arts, and Agriculture—illustrating the district’s dedication to developing well-rounded students prepared for future challenges.

“This report is more than just data; it’s a reflection of who we are as a district and community. This is our story,” Prohaska said during the presentation. “From our competitive athletic programs and award-winning arts to our deep-rooted agriculture traditions, we are celebrating the progress that happens when a community supports its schools.”

Prohaska, along with the district’s three principals, reviewed the district’s five strategic goals and explained how each school building is working to meet them. The presentation included updates on innovative instructional practices, personalized learning opportunities, safety and security measures, fiscal responsibility, and building-specific progress at the elementary, middle, and high school levels.

Additional updates were provided on technology, professional development, and district facilities, including improvements to a remodeled playground space.

Prohaska briefly summarized the presentation during the meeting.

In other business, the board announced Margie Salyers as the February Golden Tomahawk Award recipient. The award recognizes a staff member who demonstrates exceptional dedication to the district and to student success.

Salyers, the elementary school secretary, was described as the face of the elementary school. She was nominated for the honor by colleagues and also announced her retirement at the conclusion of the current school year.

Prohaska also addressed the continued support shown by the Mechanicsburg community following the passing of a student earlier in January, noting the impact the community’s response has had on students and staff.

Other business approved by the board included:

  • Peyton O’Laughlin – Middle School Boys Track & Field Head Coach

  • Tom Marvin – High School Baseball Assistant Coach

  • Greg Saylor – High School Track & Field Assistant Coach
