A Mechanicsburg student is taking her talents, leadership, and community spirit to the national stage this week as Hannah Bailey competes for the title of National Teen at the 2026 Universal Miss National Pageant in Allen, Texas.

Bailey earned the title of Universal Miss Ohio Teen and will spend the week representing both the state of Ohio and her hometown of Mechanicsburg while competing against contestants from across the country.

While pageantry may place contestants in the spotlight, those who know Bailey say she is humble, hardworking, and deeply involved in her school and community.

At Mechanicsburg High School, Bailey stays busy as a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, and the school’s student mentorship program. She also serves as chaplain for the Mechanicsburg FFA chapter and has maintained honor roll status throughout her high school career.

A talented musician, Bailey plays flute in the Mechanicsburg marching band, pep band, and concert band.

Outside the classroom, her commitment to service and leadership continues through Champaign County 4-H. She serves as president of her local 4-H club, president of the Junior Poultry Council, and is a member of the Champaign County Youth Board and the Food, Fashion and Creative Arts Board. She also gives back as a 4-H camp counselor, helping younger members develop confidence and leadership skills.

Mechanicsburg High School Principal Jason Shultz said Bailey’s accomplishments reflect the qualities that have made her a respected leader among her peers.

“Hannah is an outstanding young lady, and we are incredibly proud of her accomplishments. She represents our school and community with grace, character, and humility, and she serves as a wonderful example for others. We couldn’t be more proud of the way she represents Mechanicsburg on such a large stage!”

Agriculture and poultry education are among Bailey’s passions, and she has spent much of her year as Universal Miss Ohio Teen volunteering throughout her community, attending events, and promoting service projects and youth involvement.

The Universal Miss National Pageant, held June 21-26 in Allen, Texas, brings together titleholders from across the United States. The organization promotes self-confidence, leadership, community involvement, and personal growth while encouraging contestants to embrace their individuality and serve as positive role models. Contestants participate in various phases of competition while also taking part in activities designed to foster friendship, leadership, and personal development.

For Bailey, the trip to Texas represents more than a pageant competition. It is an opportunity to showcase the values of a small community that has helped shape her into a leader both in and out of the classroom.

As she competes on the national stage this week, friends, family, classmates, and community members back home will be cheering her on.
