A South Carolina man was cited following a two-vehicle crash on County Road 187 in Logan County on Tuesday afternoon, just after 12:30 PM.
According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened near 4588 County Road 187 when a southbound 2018 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 48-year-old Petr Cholak, of Inman, South Carolina, crossed left of center and entered the path of a northbound vehicle.
The driver of the northbound vehicle, 19-year-old Addison Cupps of Urbana, told deputies she moved as far to the right side of the roadway as possible but was still struck by the pickup truck.
After the collision, Cupps’ 2011 Honda CR-V went off the right side of the road and into a ditch, while the Silverado came to rest disabled in the roadway.
Cholak told deputies he believed he was in his lane and that the roadway was narrow.
However, investigators found roadway evidence, including gouge marks from the Silverado’s left front tire, showing the pickup was left of center at the time of impact.
As a result of the investigation, Cholak was cited for driving left of center and causing the crash.
No injuries were reported.
Both vehicles sustained disabling damage and were towed from the scene.
