The Benjamin Logan School Board unanimously approved a new logo for the district in their meeting Monday night. The new logo was the culmination of work initiated by a group that was launched on September 20, 2024. Staff, students, alumni, and community members were all invited to input their feelings into the process.
From the press release: “The Benjamin Logan Board of Education officially approved the district’s new Brand Standards Guide at its meeting on Monday, November 18, 2024. This decision marks the culmination of the Logo Modernization Project, launched on September 20, 2024, with input from staff, students, alumni, and community members. The updated logo and accompanying standards celebrate Benjamin Logan’s rich heritage while introducing modern design elements that reflect the district’s mission and vision.
“The Logo Modernization Project began with a focus on updating the district’s visual identity while maintaining the strong traditions of Benjamin Logan Schools.
- Formation of the Committee: The Logo Modernization Committee, composed of staff, students, and community members, led the process to ensure the final design resonated with the Raider identity.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Feedback was collected through surveys, with 480 responses from students, parents, alumni, and community members representing a diverse range of perspectives.
- Design Refinement: The committee held multiple meetings to review input, establish design criteria, and collaborate with professional designers.
- Final Selection: The chosen design reflects the district’s historical values while incorporating a sleek, modern aesthetic to represent Benjamin Logan’s future.”
Elle A. Design of West Liberty provided artistic guidance and designed the logo.
In other board proceedings, the board approved a motion by Superintendent John Scheu to continue the practice of allowing Benjamin Logan students free admission to athletic events for the remainder of the school year.
Beau Harmon, district Activities Director, told the board that the district experienced a $12,700 ‘loss’ as a result of allowing students to attend fall sporting events at no charge. That said, it was very popular with students and families alike. Superintendent Scheu discusses the free admission for students:
Students must obtain tickets through Hometown Ticketing, with younger students (6th grade and below) requiring adult accompaniment.
District Treasurer/CFO Leah Baker presented the district’s Five Year Forecast to the board. The district remains in solid financial shape, but changes to state funding allocations and property values may impact the district’s financial health. Superintendent Scheu discusses the forecast:
