The Village of Huntsville has a new mayor after action was taken during a special meeting Tuesday evening.

Ty Klofta was sworn in on May 26 to fill the remainder of the term previously held by Mayor Mike Hyder, who is moving and is no longer able to serve the village.

In addition to the mayoral change, councilwoman Melissa Hyder also stepped down from her position.

Village officials thanked both Mike and Melissa Hyder for their service and dedication to the community and wished them well in their next chapter.

The resignations leave two vacant seats on village council.

Officials are encouraging residents interested in serving the community to attend the June 9 council meeting at 7 p.m., at the village office next to the fire department.

To be eligible for consideration, applicants must have lived within the village for at least two years.
