Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, Lt. Governor Jon Husted, and JobsOhio have announced that Anduril Industries, a leader in advanced defense technology, will establish a massive manufacturing facility in Pickaway County, creating over 4,000 jobs by 2035.
The new five-million-square-foot facility, named Arsenal-1, is set to be the largest job creation project in Ohio’s history, expected to add nearly $1 billion to the state’s GDP.
Anduril Industries, based in Costa Mesa, California, is focused on rapidly scaling the production of cutting-edge military technologies.
The Ohio facility will help the U.S. military develop more advanced, faster, and cost-effective national defense systems.
The facility will strengthen Ohio’s role as a leader in the nation’s defense industry.
Governor DeWine emphasized Ohio’s strong legacy in defense, saying, “Ohio’s history of advancing aviation, aerospace, and national defense runs deep. At this critical moment in time, our country needs rapid technological innovation, which Anduril will deliver using Ohio’s skilled workforce.”
Located near Rickenbacker International Airport, the facility will provide direct access for product testing and development.
The site spans 500 acres with room for future growth.
The company has committed to investing more than $900 million in the area, with a total economic impact projected to exceed $2 billion annually.
Lt. Governor Husted expressed pride in Ohio’s growing role in defense technology, noting, “This investment reinforces Ohio’s position as a leader in advanced technology and national security. When it comes to ‘Made in America,’ you can’t do it without ‘Made in Ohio."”
In addition to creating 4,000 direct jobs, the project will generate an estimated 4,500 indirect jobs, over $1 billion in labor income, and approximately $800 million in tax revenue.
JobsOhio will also assist Anduril in attracting and retaining skilled workers, leveraging Ohio’s robust network of educational institutions and technical centers.
Anduril’s CEO, Brian Schimpf, highlighted the significance of the new facility: “Arsenal-1 represents a significant step forward in how we build autonomous systems and weapons for our nation. Ohio’s world-class workforce and infrastructure are key to ensuring we meet the future needs of national defense.”
The project also benefits from the DeWine-Husted administration’s support, including potential funding from the All Ohio Future Fund to assist with site readiness and preparation.
The facility’s construction is expected to begin immediately after securing state and local approvals, with production slated to start in 2026.
Anduril’s decision to build the Arsenal-1 facility in Pickaway County signals Ohio’s growing influence in the defense sector.
The state’s history in aerospace, its large manufacturing workforce, and proximity to critical military infrastructure, such as Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, make Ohio an ideal location for the facility.
JobsOhio President and CEO J.P. Nauseef remarked, “The intersection of advanced manufacturing, military and defense, technology, and Ohio’s highly skilled workers creates the ideal environment for companies like Anduril.”
