The Champaign County Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony late last week to celebrate the installation of a new Little Library at Legacy Park in downtown Urbana.
The project was completed through the Leadership Champaign County program by Don Flowers, owner of Sunshine Book Nook, and Hayden Suchland of the Champaign Family YMCA. As part of their leadership initiative, the pair worked to repair and restore Little Libraries throughout the community, promoting literacy and encouraging neighborhood engagement.
The Legacy Park library was relocated from Gwynne Street after experiencing vandalism. Its new location offers increased visibility and accessibility for residents.
Going forward, the Champaign County Aktion Club will maintain and stock the library, helping ensure it remains a reliable resource for readers of all ages.
Chamber officials say projects like this highlight the impact of community-driven efforts and provide meaningful opportunities for residents to serve and strengthen connections across Champaign County.
