The Riverside Board of Education met on Tuesday night and handled a light agenda.
District Superintendent Dr. Scott Mann informed the board that custodians are busy with summer cleaning and have begun stripping and waxing classroom floors. He also said that the north parking lot beside the new athletic facility is scheduled to be asphalted this week.
He also said that there are volleyball and basketball leagues in the gyms nearly every night.
The board also approved several items in Dr. Mann’s report:
Resignation – Classified
- Approved the resignation of Shane Pope as a Bus Driver at the end of the contract year 2025-2026.
Employment – Athletic Supplemental for 2026-2027
- Approved the following athletic supplemental contracts, per the 2026-2027 adopted salary schedule.
- Kirstin Schlumbohm JV Girls Basketball Coach
- Billy Shoffner JH Boys Basketball Asst. Coach Volunteer
Approved Change to Athletic Handbook
- Approved the change to Wednesday evening practice/game restrictions. This is due to the district joining the Ohio Heritage Conference, which holds Wednesday night girls basketball games.
The board also approved District Treasurer Ronnie Fitchpatrick’s report:
Approval of Financial Reports and Invoices Paid
- Approved financial reports, including bank reconciliations, Annual Spending Plan Report, Cash Position Report, Check Register Report, Detail Revenue Status, and Detail Expenditure Status reports.
Approval of Invoices and Expenditures
Approved invoices and expenditures paid in the amount of $776,135 for the General fund and $323,722 for all other funds for a total of $1,099,857 for the month of May 2026.
- Payroll-related expenditures for May were as follows:
- Regular Payroll $434,168
- Payroll Related $174,918
- Significant or Atypical Vendor Expenditures for May were as follows:
- MRESC $50,599 (various services)
- Brown Supply $25,211 (Custodial Supplies)
- DP&L $11,257 (Electricity)
Approval of Temporary Appropriations for 2026-2027
- Approve temporary appropriations for 2026-2027 at 25% of the current year’s expenditures.
