It was an evening of childhood wishes and dreams come true when Maci Runkle was crowned the “King of the Ring” last night at the Champaign County Fair in Urbana.
Nine young men and women who were already recognized as this year’s best showmen in their categories, battled it out in the main arena, proving their skills with animals other than their own.
For Runkle, who normally shows goats in competition, it was a very emotional event.
In second place, was Kaitlyn Metz, a swine showman. Two showmen tied for third; Aveley Bostick, from the dairy beef category, and Addison Dillow, the sheep showman.
