Tuesday at the 185th Champaign County Fair is a special day of appreciation as the fair celebrates Senior Citizens & Veterans Day. Senior citizens and veterans are invited to enjoy a free lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. while spending the day at the fair and taking in the many activities happening throughout the grounds.
Along with the special recognition, Tuesday features a full schedule of livestock shows, family activities, and evening entertainment.
The day begins with Rabbit Meat Pens and Single Fryer weigh-in at 7 a.m., followed by the Junior Fair County Born & Raised Goat Show at 8 a.m. in the Woodruff Show Arena. The goat competition continues with the Rate of Gain Class.
At 9 a.m., the Swine Show Arena hosts the FFA and 4-H Market Gilt Show, while the Junior Fair Rabbit Show takes place in the Rabbit Building. Fairgoers can also attend the Ag Innovation Series from 10 to 11 a.m. and again from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Activities Building.
The afternoon brings more livestock action with the Junior Fair Dairy Steer Show followed by the Junior Fair Dairy Feeder Show at 1 p.m. At 3 p.m., the popular Wiener Dog Elimination Heat Race adds some fun and excitement to the fair schedule.
Tuesday evening features several crowd favorites, including the Horse Sponsorship Auction at 5:30 p.m. and the Junior Fair Market Lamb Show at 6 p.m. The evening continues with Harness Races and Wiener Dog Races beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Fairgoers can also enjoy live music from the Muleskinner Band from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Lions Park Gazebo, making Tuesday a memorable day of recognition, competition, and entertainment at the 185th Champaign County Fair.
