Two Piqua men were seriously injured in a motorcycle crash Tuesday evening in Champaign County.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash happened just before 7:00 p.m. on U.S. Route 36 at the intersection of State Route 235 in Johnson Township.
Troopers say a Kawasaki Ninja, operated by 21-year-old Kadyn Edwards, and a Yamaha YZF, operated by 24-year-old Romello Benson, were both traveling east on U.S. 36 when the motorcycles collided.
Both riders were wearing helmets.
Edwards suffered life-threatening injuries and was flown by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital.
Benson suffered serious injuries and was taken by St. Paris Fire and EMS to Upper Valley Medical Center.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Crash Reconstruction Unit assisted at the scene, and the roadway reopened around 10:00 p.m.
The crash remains under investigation.

A major crash involving at least two, and possibly three, motorcycles shut down a busy Champaign County intersection Tuesday evening, leaving two people with serious injuries.
The crash occurred at the intersection of U.S. Route 36 and State Route 235 between Piqua and St. Paris.
According to the reports, one victim was flown by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital with serious traumatic injuries. A second victim was transported by ground ambulance to Upper Valley Medical Center, also suffering serious traumatic injuries.
Reports also say CareFlight was requested and responded to the scene. Authorities have not released the identities of those involved or provided an update on their conditions.
The intersection of U.S. 36 and State Route 235 was closed in both directions for a long period of time as troopers investigated the crash.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. More details will be released as they become available.
