Friday, Bellefontaine Mayor Ben Stahler was awarded Distinguished Citizen for Art Education at the Annual Ohio Art Educators Conference in Toledo.
Melanie Ingraham, who nominated Mayor Stahler for the honor, says,” He believes that art honors individuals brings people together, and constructs thriving communities for the future.”
Councilman Jordan Reser says” The youth of Bellefontaine are exemplified by the Mayor’s Art Show… To highlight the artistic talents of many students.”
Mayor Stahler uses art as a way to connect all the generations of the Bellefontaine community through public art and believes that a healthy art culture is important for the future of the city.
“Serving the community as Mayor for over nine years, it’s been a joy to be involved in a number of local arts projects, murals, and Holland Theatre engagements. I’m most proud of the Mayor’s Art Exhibit that displays 22 framed works by local students from Kindergarten to 12th grade. We change these out twice a year and host an open house with each new round of art, paying honor to art students and their families for sharing their talents.” Mayor Stahler stated.
