After 10,220 days of service to the Bellefontaine community, longtime dispatcher Kim Tackett has officially retired from the Bellefontaine Police Department.
Friends, family, coworkers, and members of the public gathered to celebrate Tackett’s career and the impact she made behind the scenes as the voice on the other end of the radio and phone.
Before the public celebration began, those closest to her reflected on a career filled with challenges, triumphs, and countless memorable moments.
Over the years, Tackett handled everything from emergency calls and difficult situations to helping new officers find their footing.
Through changes in leadership, department growth, and thousands of calls for service, she remained a steady presence for both officers and residents.
Looking back on her career, Tackett shared memories from her time with the department, talked about what’s next in retirement, and offered advice for those following in her footsteps.
Bellefontaine Police Chief Chris Marlow also thanked Tackett for her decades of dedication and service to the department and the community.
While her retirement leaves a void in the dispatch center, Tackett leaves behind a legacy of professionalism, commitment, and friendship.
As she begins the next chapter of her life, she takes with her the gratitude, respect, and camaraderie of the officers and coworkers she served alongside for 28 years.
Thank you for your service to our community, and best wishes on your next adventure.
