While on patrol early Saturday morning, Bellefontaine Police pulled over a vehicle for a marked lane violation on South Main Street.
When officers approached the driver, they noticed open alcoholic beverages in the car, and several vape devices on the center console.
The driver, 17-year-old Talon Castle, of West Liberty, appeared under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
The passenger of the vehicle, also 17, looked intoxicated as well.
Castle admitted to drinking at a social gathering and vaping THC before driving.
After consenting to a field sobriety test, which Castle failed to complete, he and his passenger were placed in custody and taken to the Bellefontaine Police Department where a breathalyzer sample was submitted.
Castle tested a BAC of 0.132, almost two times the legal limit.
Officers found several open containers of alcohol, vape pens, and vape cartridges inside Castle’s vehicle.
He was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, underage consumption, improper turn, marked lanes, open container, and a curfew violation.
Both Castle and the passenger were released into parental custody.
