UPDATE: Left-turn crash sends one to hospital

One person was taken to the hospital following a two-vehicle crash Monday afternoon on South Main Street in Bellefontaine.

According to a report from the Bellefontaine Police Department, the crash happened shortly after 1:00 p.m. when a 2007 Acura MDX driven by Trenton Heath, 19, of Bellefontaine, was traveling south on Main Street and attempted to turn left in front of a northbound 2018 Chevrolet Trax driven by Roger Becker, 42, of Fairborn.

Police say the front of the Chevrolet struck the passenger side of the Acura.

Becker suffered suspected minor injuries and was transported to Mary Rutan Hospital by Bellefontaine EMS.

Heath was cited for failure to yield the right of way.

Both vehicles sustained disabling damage and were towed from the scene.


A two-vehicle crash slowed traffic on South Main Street in Bellefontaine around 1:00 p.m. Monday near Iron City Sports Bar.

Bellefontaine Police, along with Bellefontaine Fire and EMS, responded to what appeared to be a rear-end collision.

Northbound traffic was shut down while emergency crews worked at the scene.

The extent of any injuries has not been released, and officials have not said what led to the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.
